Message from Founding President

Dear Members of the Nepal Optometry Student Society (NOSS) As the founding president of the NOSS, it brings me immense pride and joy to see how far this student society has come over the past 26 years. When we first established the society, we faced many challenges. Optometry education was just beginning in Nepal, and there was limited awareness of the importance of optometrists in healthcare services. We lacked resources, academic infrastructure, and recognition, but what we did have was a strong passion to lay the foundation for a united voice for optometry students and the profession. Back then, organizing even the simplest of events, securing support from institutions, and fostering a network among wider student societies across the Institute of Medicine required relentless effort. We knew that the challenges we faced were not just ours, but part of the larger journey to elevate the optometry profession in Nepal. It was difficult, but we believed in the vision. Today, seeing how NOSS has grown into a strong, vibrant community that nurtures future leaders, promotes research, and advocates for excellence in optometric care, I am incredibly inspired. What began as a small group of dedicated students has now blossomed into an influential society with the power to shape the future of optometry and eye care services in Nepal. This growth is a testament to the hard work of countless students, faculty, and professionals who have carried forward the vision. You have transformed NOSS into a platform that not only addresses professional challenges but also nurtures excellence and unity among the student body. As I reflect on the challenges we faced back then, I am filled with gratitude and pride in seeing how strong and impactful NOSS has become. I believe the future is bright, and society will continue to thrive, growing ever stronger with each generation. To all current and future members, I encourage you to continue pushing the boundaries, embracing challenges, and fostering the same spirit of collaboration and innovation that has brought NOSS to where it stands today. With warm regards and best wishes for continued success,

Manisha Koirala

Message from Former President

Warm greetings everyone,

As I stand at this moment, inaugurating the official NOSS website, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. This milestone is more than a digital launch, it is the realization of a vision nurtured over many years by successive student leaders, each of whom believed in strengthening the identity and unity of optometry students in Nepal.

The vision for this website began during my tenure as Secretary of the Nepal Optometry Students’ Society. While drafting plans for the future in the secretarial board, I noticed that the idea of launching an official NOSS website had been appearing in long-term goals for many years. I, too, documented it as a priority for the future hoping that one day it would finally come to life.

When I was entrusted with the responsibility to serve as President, this idea transformed from a distant aspiration into a mission. I knew that our society deserved a platform that would reflect our values, showcase our achievements, enhance communication, and connect us with the global optometry community. With dedication, planning, and the tireless support of the executive team, that vision has finally come to life.

This website represents continuity a bridge between the dreams of our predecessors and the opportunities awaiting future generations. It symbolizes the collective effort of students who believed in building a stronger academic culture, fostering leadership, and advancing the optometry profession in Nepal.

To everyone who contributed with ideas, time, encouragement, and commitment, thank you. This achievement belongs to all of us. As we move forward, I hope this platform becomes a hub of learning, collaboration, and innovation for optometry students nationwide.

Let us continue to dream boldly, work collectively, and elevate the future of optometry in Nepal; one milestone at a time.

Best wishes.

Nepal Optometry Student's Society (NOSS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new project, “Optical Lab for Optometry Students," supported by Optometry Giving Sight.
